January,
2003
January 4 Christmas party at Mike's. 20 wild people attended. Thanks to
Carmen and Mike for hosting, and Audrey for her famous chili recipe. January 7 General
Meeting
Jan. 15
for 2-6 weeks. Chris, Marlene,
Denis, Roseanne, Gail and husband, Alex and Aaron headed to Thailand, and met up with Robin already there. Denis and Roseanne
side-stepped to Vietnam as well on their 6 week journey.
January 12 Kitty and
Leslie did the latest regular Casino/Gaming Financial Report.
January 21 Executive
Meeting met to compile 2001/2 club points
February 2003
February 1 Club sponsored Thai Thigh feast at Leslie and Brian's. A
warm Thai feast was cooked by Kitty for all those who couldn't join in on the
warm dives. It was a blast. Thanks to all who came and helped in various ways!

Centennial Pool time. Wayne and Brian tried out new gear.

April 2003
April 1 General Meeting, 8 p.m. Bob Lamb Training Center. Greg gave a 20 minute presentation on how to take great underwater photos.
April 12-21 Westwood High School Scuba (non) Club went to Cozumel for
spring break. 17 youth, 13 adults, Andy, Bruce and Carmen assisted. Our
club donated $5,000 towards their training and travel.
April 25-27 Spring Trade Show Thanks to everyone who helped
out, and to Bob Reed for coordinating!
May 2003

May long weekend Several members took courses from Carmen in Nanaimo.

June 29 Triathlon: in water support of triathlon participants.
Thanks go out to Phil Trapton and Ernie Fenty for scuba support in two of the
rescue boats at the Alberta Age Group Championships triathlon. Also to Greg
Halinda for providing shore support. Many triathletes and spectators at
Gregoire Lake saw Phil and Ernie lending a hand. Thankfully, no rescue
services were needed, except for a set of car keys that needed rescuing by
Ernie. Well done!
June 21 and 29 weekends
Carmen ran Rescue diving courses at Cold Lake. Her graduation ceremonies were
creative!
July

July 19 Gregoire Lake Beach Clean Up. Thanks to Leslie, Brian, Greg,
Francois, Bob and Jon Reed for the great clean-up and to Jon for organizing.

Camp Yogi beach.
Air Compressor courses in June, July and August. Thanks to Harry Osteneck of ProSkills for running

A very fun event with about 30 participants
from Ft. McMurray, Cold Lake, Edmonton, Wetaskiwin and Saskatchewan. Thanks to
Carmen for organizing, and Ernie for hauling tanks and air compressors!

Thanks so much to Georgina and Carmen for organizing, and to everyone who
helped out. Very appreciated!
September 11-15 - Naniamo trip with Carmen. Brian, Marius, Chris,
Georgina, all had a great time. Thanks to Carmen for teaching and organizing!
The highlight of the trip was rescuing another dive boat's occupants when the
boat was swamped and sank (see white boat sinking in photo below). People were
treated for hypothermia, and as much gear as possible was rescued. Rescue
diving courses came in handy!
